It has been forever since my last post but no worries, we haven’t dropped off the face of the earth due to a major calamity, we’ve just been very, very busy. This is the visiting phase of our journey and the reason we set out on this trip to begin with. After leaving the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State, we boarded a ferry from Port Angeles to downtown Victoria, BC. The weather was spectacular and snow-capped mountains were visible in every direction. The border crossing upon arrival in Victoria was a breeze and before we knew it we were driving past the Parliament Buildings and the Empress Hotel on our way north to Nanaimo to visit my father.
We spent 6 nights in Nanaimo, parked at the best campground in the area, their driveway! Sadly, it was eventually time to go and we boarded a different ferry from Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay on the BC mainland, where we are moving around visiting more family who live in various regions near Vancouver.
We are planning on staying in this area for approximately another week before our journey continues.

Didn’t realize you had “roots” on Vancouver Island. What good pictures of the area! Keep up the good work! Will you get up to Whistler and some of the 2010 Winter Olympics venues? Have a safe trip and look forward to visiting with you both upon your return.
Yes, my “roots” are spread out all over southern British Columbia. I don’t think we will get up to Whistler on this trip though, I was there in 2011 and saw all the venues then. I love Whistler. We did go downtown though and i hadn’t been there for many years. It was great.
It’s nice to see you having a great visit in Nanaimo. And the photos bring back memories. looking forward to your next family post.
We’re parked in Pam and Rob’s driveway now and they all say “Hi”. Beautiful blue sunny days with temps the same as in Orlando but without the humidity.
Trust you to find convenient and economical ‘camping’ spots! 😉 I’m certain they are glad to have you so close at hand. Back at them, and let them know I look forward to their next visit!
What a beautiful place in the world! Have fun and look out for bears.
Leonard saw a bear yesterday when we went up to a mountain lake for an evening swim with my cousin and her family. I’m more concerned about cougars that are quite common in this area (the 4 legged ones, not the 2 legged ones).
Love thw owl in the cherry tree. My new background…
Beautiful,,,,, P.S. Worked ou today”!!!!!!!!!
Glad to hear it!
You cool kids are doing it right on this trip for sure. Very much so indeed but you seem sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo far away!!! You are certainly not missing anything here in Florida though, Bobs!!!! It’s hot, muggy and it has been raining far more than summers past. Please keep on continuing your awesome streak by taking excellent pictures. If you guys go any farther North I may have to zip out there for a proper escort back home!!!! I WISH!!!!!!!
Weather here has been spectacular, a few days of rain but now sunny and hot during the day and a cool 48 at night. Perfect. Wish you could come and meet us.
That Hippo looks like a unique vehicle.
