The last day at our campground on Lake Superior dawned clear and cold.  It got down to 32 that night but the wind wasn’t howling and Leonard decided to go for a hike while his girls stayed warm and cozy in the RV.    He drove back into the Pictured Rocks Nat. Lakeshore and stopped at several beautiful overlooks before  hiking from the Hurricane River Campground to the Au Sable Point Light Station.   Continue reading

From Mackinac Island we’ve headed north and west into the Upper Peninsula (UP) to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore on Lake Superior,  the third Great Lake we will have seen on this trip.     We found a Munising city run RV campground right on the shore of Lake Superior that will be our home base for a few days.   Continue reading

We’ve heard about Mackinac Island for years and now finally we can check it off our bucket list.   For those of you not familiar with the island, there are no vehicles allowed.  After taking a 20 minute ferry ride over Lake Huron to the island you are faced with a decision –  walk, rent a bike or take a horse drawn carriage to explore the island.  It was a gorgeous cool day and we chose a tandem bike to ride around the 8 mile parameter of the island.
